Jeffrey Solomon
Camp Industry Spokesperson
Born and raised in this nation's melting pot, New York City, Jeff rapidly gained exposure to and a deep appreciation for cultural and environmental diversity. Throughout his early years he often involved himself as the organizer and leader of various social, environmental, entrepreneurial and recreational efforts. Jeff concluded his college studies with a joint degree in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Social Work. The primary application of his education has focused on youth.
Jeff is a former Junior High School teacher and director of nature and pioneering programs at several summer camps. He has also worked with various populations as a vocational and employment counselor. Jeff has an extensive background in education, counseling, recreation, and working with youth, as well as involvement in various local and global environmental issues. He is a recipient of the President of the United States' Certificate of Merit for Service to the Environment.
He is the founder and current executive director of National Camp Association, Inc., a world renowned organization which is celebrating its 25th year of service to families, students and camps worldwide. As an industry liaison, Jeff has established worldwide contacts and affiliations. Conceived and developed by Jeff, the Association's informative website (www.summercamp.org) has served as a valuable conduit, increasing global awareness of the summer camp experience.
Today Jeff is an internationally recognized authority and spokesperson for the summer camp industry. He has appeared on and been quoted in numerous local, national and international television, radio and print publications including: CNN, CNBC, CBS morning news, Fox morning news, WABC news (NY), NPR, WOR radio, Radio Japan, The New York Times, US News & World Report, Kiplingers, USA Today, International Herald Tribune, The Mayo Clinic newsletter, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Family Circle, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic and countless other family, summer camp and recreation related media.
He has been consulted by numerous summer camps and corporations, including Disney, Nickelodeon and the Prince's Trust in the UK. Jeff, possesses a wealth of knowledge and information about all aspects of the summer camp industry including marketing, program development and budget. Due to his experience and current position he has unique insight into what the marketplace wants, and how to reach it, including current and future trends.
Jeff authored the guide "How To Choose A Summer Camp", thousands of which have been distributed to the public. It is now available online and is one of the most popular features of the NCA website.
